2017 Rhinebeck Bus Trip Info

July, 2017

Dear Guild Members,

We are pleased to announce that the Spinning Study Group will be sponsoring our annual bus trip to the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY on Saturday October 21, 2017. Information about the festival can be found on their website: www.sheepandwool.com . The festival boasts having over 200 fiber-related booths that offer every type of product imaginable for weavers, spinners, knitters, felters and other fiber artists.

Some Key Information:

  • Cost for the bus is $45 which includes the bus, a tip for the driver, and discounted admission to the festival.

  • Checks should be made payable to Spinning Study Group of L.I. or SSGLI

  • Mail to: Bonnie Yancoskie 20 Lake Terrace Rd.  Lake Ronkonkoma, NY 11779

  • You will be added to the list as the checks are received; first come first served.

  • Registration is open to,guild members until August 31,2017. September 1st the list becomes open to all.

  • Bus seats are not refundable – however they can be transferred. We may have someone on the waiting list who will be happy to take your spot and will assist as much as possible.

  • Trip is rain or shine – Most vendors are in barns or enormous tents so a few raindrops will not be a problem.

We will be riding a large Hampton Jitney bus, which is equipped with a bathroom. The bus will be making three pick-ups (Schedule follows), but will not be making any additional stops. Please bring along your morning coffee and possibly a boxed supper for the ride home. We will be leaving the festival promptly at 5pm and should arrive home between 8 – 9 pm.

There are food vendors at the festival offering a variety of delicacies that range from Vegan/vegetarian, local wines, to typical festival foods. Lines tend to be long so you may want to hit the food vendors early or you may want to bring lunch with you. We generally arrange to have access to the bus at lunch-time, to drop off purchases and pick up lunch. The bus is usually parked within easy walking distance to the gate.

Pick Up Schedule:

5:30 AM – TJ Max parking lot Route 58/Old Country Rd, Riverhead (near the hospital traffic circle)

6:00 AM – LIE Exit 63 Park and Ride, located ON North Ocean Avenue (North of the LIE) next to the Applebee’s

6:30 AM –  LIE Exit 49 Park and Ride, (Route 110 exit) North Service Rd, Melville

Please add your pickup location and a cell phone number to the memo section of your check.

If you want more information you can contact Adele Michelsen (President SSGLI) at 631-803-8562, or Nancy Ami (trip Committee) at 631-846-4459. Both Adele and Nancy will be taking names and checks at the upcoming meetings as that Bonnie has prior commitments and won’t be able to attend.

Hope you will join us in celebrating our craft!

Bonnie Yancoskie

Acting Treasurer, SSGLI
